Answering some of the most commonly asked questions

What materials are your pieces made of?
For more information about how to care for our jewellery, please see Jewellery Care.
All of our jewellery is made from either 925 Sterling Silver or Stainless Steel (Nickel and Lead free).

What is the difference between Gold PVD Plating and Gold Vermeil?
PVD is often done to give the look of real gold at a fraction of the cost of having a piece of jewellery that is solid gold. It is more durable and scratch resistant to traditional gold plating. We use the highest quality PVD process so that you get the aesthetic and durability.
Gold Vermeil is a term to describe jewellery that has a Sterling Silver base with gold plating that last many years longer than standard Gold Plating.
Physical Vapour Deposition ('PVD') is a type of vacuum coating. Gold is vaporized in a vacuum under high temperatures, then allowed to condense around the object or base metal, molecule by molecule. The end result tends to be about 3 to 5 microns thick. PVD is an extremely durable coating which is more resistant to corrosion from sweat and regular wear than traditional gold plating. We use 18k gold with Stainless Steel or 925 Sterling Silver to bond them together.

How is your jewellery hypo-allergenic?
All our pieces are either made from Sterling Silver or Stainless Steel and PVD plated in 18K gold. They do not contain Nickel, Chromium, Copper, Brass or Lead which are common irritants for people who are sensitive to some jewellery.
Everyone's skin produces natural oils which will react differently to certain metals and plating. We are not responsible for any reaction you may have to our products.
Hypoallergenic jewellery is made from materials less likely to cause a reaction.

How is your jewellery water-resistant?
It’s important to remember that all metal is susceptible to natural wear and will eventually oxidise or fade in its lifetime. To increase the longevity of your jewellery follow our jewellery care advice.
Because of the 18k Gold PVD Plating or 18k Gold Vermeil of our jewellery, our pieces can withstand more exposure to moisture. With proper jewellery care your jewellery will last much longer than standard coated jewellery. However, we still advise to not wear your jewellery in water.
